United Kingdom
– Walters Power UK, Ltd., an affiliate of WPI, is developing a series of Standing Operating Reserve (STOR) plants. The first project, has been completed near Doncaster, England, and was commissioned in April 2010. The national grid in the UK has indicated that this plant is the first “purpose built” STOR plant in the UK. This plant, and others like it, will address the needs of the national grid to handle the instability in the grid due to intermittent renewable energy projects.
California
– Walters Power California, is pursuing the development of a 30MW biomass project and the use of LNG to address plants without access to gas pipelines.
Pakistan
– With two plants completed and another underway and financing being finished for a third WPI has a significant presence in Pakistan. In addition to these plants, three others have been awarded and are currently being analyzed for development. WPI and its affiliates have financed and spent more than $150 million during the last three years and are expected to spend another $100 million in the next 12 months. WPI is three years into the challenging work to build one of Pakistan’s largest power generation portfolio.
Oklahoma
– Walters Power International is working with local partners to develop a high-voltage transmission line to assist with the export of renewable and excess power generation from WPI's home state.
